About
Carrollwood Players Theatre (CWP) is Tampa’s longest continuously operating, volunteer led, community theatre company, operating since 1981. The mission of CWP is to promote a greater knowledge of the theatre arts and skills by developing talent and training members in all branches of dramatic presentation, fostering and promoting exchange of information, experience, and ideas, and presenting a variety of stage productions for the entertainment and benefit of its members. CWP prides itself in welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds to learn the many aspects of theatre including acting, lighting, management, set building and design, costumes and music. Most of all, it is known as a place where the community can come together to create the performing arts. Today, CWP presents nine Mainstage plays and two musicals each season; an Annual One Act Weekend, producing aspiring playwrights’ scripts; Nine and Numb monthly improv shows; Life Amplified showcasing variety acts and poets; and a variety of other ongoing special events including limited showing Black Box staged readings, performances, and festivals.
